SUMMARY:2024 (Dec) North Island AkroFest
DESCRIPTION:The Langley Marshall Trophy memorialises Brian Langley and Paul Marshall\, passionate Northshore Aero Club aerobatic instructors and NZAC stalwarts\, and is awarded to the pilot scoring the highest overall percentage across all completed sequences. \nPast winners have typically (but not always) been from the lower categories\, so everybody has a chance to win the main trophy. \nThis two-day competition will provide for three competition sequence flights per competitor\, in your selected category. You may enter more than one category\, however only the scores from your highest category will count towards the Trophy. \n\n\n\n\n\nCATEGORY\nSEQUENCE\n\n\n\n\nPrimary\nKnown I / Known II / Known III\n\n\nRecreational\nKnown I / Known II / Known III\n\n\nSports\nKnown / Free / Unknown\n\n\nIntermediate / Advanced / Unlimited\nKnown / FreeKnown / Unknown\n\n\n\n\nSequence Descriptions \nFor this event\, we are changing the sequences for Primary and Recreational\, to provide more ‘Known’ flying and therefore better pre-event practice for competitors in these two entry-level categories. \nKnown \nAll categories will fly the appropriate-to-your-category 2024/25 Known sequences\, found on the NZAC website or https://openaero.net and look in library/NZAC/2025. \nFor Primary and Recreational\, you will fly Known\, Known II and Known III on separate flights. \nFree / Free Known \nFor the Sport category you have the option of designing your own Free sequence in OpenAero or re-flying your 2024/25 Known sequence. \nFor INT and above\, you must create your own Free Known sequence using the figures of 2024 CIVA Free Known using OpenAero. \nUnknown \nSports\, Intermediate\, Advanced and Unlimited will be presented with an Unknown at the conclusion of flying on Saturday. \n‘Free’ Newbies \nIf you are new creating your own Free or Free Known using OpenAero\, have a read of the article on the NZAC website ‘Aerobatic Sequence Design Part 2’. The NZAC Competition Rules (website – Resources/Rules) provide limits and requirements of sequences and figures. \nAirfield Amenities \nHangarage\, overnight parking and fuel is available on the airfield. \nLanding fees and hangarage fees are payable to Mercer Airport and will be invoiced to the aircraft operator. \nAccommodation on the airfield is problematic due to demand from other users – contact us to see what can be arranged elsewhere. \nHelpers required both days to assist with ground duties \nNo experience required for many of the roles – get involved to learn more about our sport. \nPlease register too – no membership or entry fee required for Helpers\, and you get a free lunch! \nFood and Drink \nLunch\, water\, tea and coffee on both days is included in the entry fee (and free for registered helpers). \nWe will also do something nutritious and social on Saturday night! \nEntry \nOnline Entry is via the Google Form – click HERE \nEntries close November 7th (late entry penalty of $50 after that date) \nContact Contest Director\, Grant Benns\, for more details. \ngrantbenns2014@gmail.com \n021 0629929
